Meet Linda: A Crocheting Dynamo in Our TOTS Community Challenge

by | Jul 31, 2024 | Community

Meet Linda, a remarkable new addition to our TOTS Community Challenge. Despite only joining us less than three weeks ago, Linda has already completed an impressive 13 full blankets, even managing to crochet a few squares along the way. She prefers crocheting, finding it faster and more efficient.

Linda’s journey with crochet began when she was just six years old. In Year 1 at Whalan School, she watched a fellow student crochet a scarf during recess. Inspired, Linda went home that day and asked her mother to buy her a hook and some wool, and by closely observing her classmate, she taught herself to crochet, eventually creating her own skirt. Her father, a talented knitter who made his own jumpers, taught Linda to knit when she was only five.

Knitting, sewing, and crocheting have become integral parts of Linda’s life. She always keeps a spare hook and needle in her car, making the most of her time while waiting for her husband’s medical appointments. Between caring for her unwell mother and her husband’s medical needs, Linda finds solace and joy in her creative pursuits – she says it’s her happy place.

Linda has been unstoppable during this challenge, often taking bags of squares and returning them as completed blankets the next day. Her dedication sees her completing two, sometimes even three, blankets a day!

We are incredibly grateful for Linda’s contribution to the TOTS Community Challenge. Her beautiful work and commitment to giving back to our community are truly inspiring. Linda is already gearing up for next year’s challenge, and we can’t wait to see what she creates next.!
