We are thrilled to share the wonderful news of our latest donation to the TOTS Blanket Challenge! Korowal School in Hazelbrook has graciously contributed six beautiful blankets, each one a reflection of the community’s generosity and creativity. These six blankets are the result of 207 crafted granny squares, sewn together into blankets by Susanna Harris, a dedicated parent from Korowal School. Susanna’s dedication and skill are evident in every stitch, bringing warmth and comfort to those in need this winter.
Rachael, a staff member at Korowal School (Pictured) and a friend of Susanna, played a pivotal role in promoting the Blanket Challenge throughout the school. Thanks to her efforts, the initiative was featured in school newsletters, reaching students, parents, and grandparents alike. Students as young as 13, along with their parents and grandparents, came together to participate in this heartwarming project. The school community organised “Crafternoons” – delightful after-school sessions dedicated to sewing and crocheting. These sessions not only fostered creativity but also strengthened bonds within the community, as participants of all ages collaborated to create these stunning blankets.
Susanna Harris, who also teaches Learn to Crochet classes at The Creative Fringe, has been the driving force behind this generous donation. Her passion for crochet and her dedication to the Blanket Challenge have inspired many. Through crocheting the squares together, Susanna has said that she managed to practice many different crochet techniques.
