Meet Martina, a member of our Tots Community Challenge, who joined us today to deliver her beautifully crafted blankets, beanies, and scarves. This marks Martina’s fourth year as a dedicated volunteer, and this year she has outdone herself by contributing 10 blankets, 12 super-warm beanies, and 4 scarves.
Martina’s passion for crochet is truly inspiring. She spends her evenings crocheting while cheering ( yelling) at her favourite Swannies team during the footy games. This hobby, which brings her joy and relaxation, was passed down from her aunt who taught her the basic stitch. Martina has since expanded her skills through books and a plethora of YouTube tutorials, particularly enjoying the work of “Fibre Spider,” a YouTuber known for his easy-to-follow crochet patterns.
Winter is Martina’s favourite time to create blankets, as they keep her warm while she works. In the summer, when the weather is too hot for large projects, she switches to making beanies. ( Her husband’s bald head even serves as the perfect sizing guide for these creations!)
We are incredibly grateful to Martina for her beautiful contributions. Her dedication and skill bring warmth and comfort to our community, and we know that those who receive her handmade items will feel the love and care that went into each piece. Thank you, Martina, for your continued support and for making a difference in our community!
