We are so grateful for the students, their families and teachers of St Columba’s Catholic College in Springwood who are supporting the TOTS Challenge this year. They delivered their FIRST contribution of blankets and squares for our 2024 challenge. These squares will certainly be snapped up quickly by our volunteers who are busy crocheting and sewing them together into blankets.
St Columba’s are still encouraging their students to continue knitting and crocheting because as they are still collecting squares! Rhianna (Y11) and Brooke (Y8) are just two of the students who have contributed to the 132 beautifully knitted and crocheted squares that they have collected so far. We know that many family members of these students especially grandparents have been so helpful to this cause. SCCC staff members have donated two QUEEN-SIZED blankets and the most beautiful baby blanket to add to the total.
Thank you to the teachers and students who have supported the challenge this year. We are so grateful for your care, time and attention you have all taken for this wonderful community initiative.
What benefits would a school gain from joining this challenge:
- Fostering Community Spirit: A great opportunity for students and teachers to unite for a common cause, strengthening the school’s sense of community and responsibility towards others.
- Anyone can assist: Beginners can learn and improve their skills, while experienced crafters can mentor others.
- Inclusive Activity: This initiative is accessible to a diverse group of students, including those who may not typically engage in traditional extracurricular activities, can be done at home/ class.
- Direct Impact: Student can see how their contributions will have a tangible impact on the local community, providing warmth and comfort to those in need.
