Have fun getting your hands dirty - this workshop is the perfect introduction to the art of block printing, Rebecca from Made by Me Workshops will guide you through the process of carving a rubber block to create stamps or blocks that can then printed onto cloth to create and endless array of personalised items to share with your friends and family.
In this workshop participants will design and carve their own simple block design and then practise with it on paper before using it to create their own block printed linen tea towel or cotton tote bag.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

1. 1. How to design a simple block print,
   2. What tools are used for block printing and how to use them,
   3. How to safely carve your own piece of rubber
   4. Techniques and tips for successful block printing.
   5. How to create a repeating pattern and apply this to a tea towel or tote bag to take home.
   6. You may want to bring along any design inspiration or block printing references you have, we will have some simple designs that can be used as well as some inspirational images that participants can use to generate their ideas. If you do want to create your own design - just remember to keep it simple!
      We provide everything you need for the workshop including an apron to protect your clothes. Don't dress to impress, we will be printing with fabric ink so it won't come out of your clothes if you make a mess.Sharp tools will be used, so a steady hand and caution will be required.
