A Visual Artists journey to her own studio

by | Mar 22, 2023 | Co-working

When I first saw The Creative Fringe I was utterly amazed! It is bright, colourful and a true feast for my eyes with a funky, creative vibe that screams FUN & FABULOUS!

I was so excited and knew that I had to be a part of this vibrant atmosphere one way or another.

TCF has been a huge game changer for me, my life and my business, “Velvet Orchid Creations” in the most positive way imaginable. I moved from QLD in Jan 2023 to my parents place in Penrith, Sydney. As a freelance Visual Artist my parents didn’t have the room for a studio and therefore I was stuck not being able to work at all.

So finding a place like TCF was like hitting the jackpot for me. It solved so many issues at once in one huge swoop. TCF not only afforded me to have my very own studio to work in but also allows me 24/7 access, not only to my studio but to the whole building that houses a full working kitchen, lounge room complete with books, candles and the whole homely feeling with loads of beautiful plants of every variety. Having access to the building 24/7 is a dream to a visual artist who often gets inspired to work late at night and into the wee hours of the morning. It also has an excellent security system which is so reasurring and puts my mind at ease to be able to work freely as I please.

The communal set up is a dream for me as I am a social butterfly and I enjoy the company of different people from all walks of life who are interesting and very friendly. It’s also perfect for networking as I have made valuable contacts and friends just by getting coffee in the kitchen or meeting someone in one of the many interesting spaces that are scattered throughout the huge space makes up TCF. In saying that I am able to be free to wander around and enjoy a cuppa while reading and sitting on one of the many comfy lounges that are provided for the members of TCF. I have even put my feet up for a rest and have taken a snooze on my break. However if someone wasn’t inclined to be so sociable they could always just stick to their own lane. It’s totally up to the individual.

There are meeting rooms that you can book for your own pleasure whether it be for meetings with clients or networking with other people at TCF. Also, another exciting feature is the many different workshops that are run and made available to yourself and others in the community. Such a creative explosion!

I would also like to ad that TCF is involved with a lot of various local & nation wide charities which is so inspiring and generous and I cannot wait to be a part of being involved with these.

I am a huge animal lover and adore my beautiful 11 y/o Whippet Lulu, so when I was told that she was welcome to come and sit with me in my studio I was overwhelmed as I didn’t have to worry about her being alone and fretting for me while I was away from her. It’s lovely to see and pat other peoples dogs as well.
TCF has proven to me to be a most welcoming, friendly and inclusive place that will allow me to thrive both personally and professionally.

With Barb Howard at the helm, she makes feel welcomed, well informed and valued. Barb goes above and beyond to answer any questions you may have with a beautiful smile and disposition and to makes me feel at ease to enjoy my experience while working at TCF.

I would recommend TCF to anyone who enjoys what I have explained in the above segment.
