The Creative Fringe Hosts First 2022 Blanket Handover for Think Outside the Square
As proud hosts and supporters of the Think Outside The Square Blanket Challenge, we were honoured to welcome several local charities to The Creative Fringe in Penrith for the first blanket donation handover of 2022. A total of 362 handmade blankets were collected and will now be distributed across our community to those who need them most this winter.
Our colourful industrial warehouse came to life with warmth and gratitude as the volunteer-run TOTS team handed over months of work—meticulously stitched, crocheted, and knitted by hundreds of passionate contributors. While TOTS spearheads the initiative, we’re incredibly proud to provide the home base for this impactful community blanket challenge each year.
To all the volunteers who poured their time, creativity, and care into this effort—what a phenomenal result. Your handmade creations are more than just blankets—they’re symbols of hope, compassion, and community spirit. And while we may only witness one part of the journey, we regularly hear from charity partners how deeply these donations are appreciated.
With this first handover complete, the next phase is already underway. The goal: 500 blankets in total for 2022. That means just 138 more to go before the final handover on Friday, 29th July—and we know the TOTS community is up for the challenge!
